The Sleeping Oracle

The Sleeping Oracle exists at the threshold between consciousness and a knowledge that cannot be reached through reason alone. A solitary figure approaches an immense, silent presence whose closed eyes refuse the certainty of encounter. The difference in scale creates a peculiar intimacy: the monumental does not overpower the human so much as draw her toward something inward and inaccessible.
Light gathers along the boundary between them, suggesting revelation while carefully withholding it. Its warmth does not awaken the sleeping presence; instead, it intensifies the silence. The surrounding darkness becomes expansive rather than empty, holding the scene in a suspended state where time seems temporarily withdrawn.
The title introduces an unresolved paradox. An oracle is expected to speak, yet this one remains beyond speech, perhaps beyond waking itself. What might be known is therefore present only as potential—as something sensed through proximity rather than received as an answer. The ascending figure appears to approach not certainty, but the possibility of listening differently.
Perhaps the oracle sleeps because what it carries cannot yet be heard. Or perhaps the silence is already the prophecy, waiting for someone who no longer requires words to understand it.
