Held by the Infinite

Held by the Infinite places vulnerability within a scale so immense that ordinary distinctions between shelter and surrender begin to dissolve. The human presence rests within something beyond measure, creating an atmosphere of profound stillness in which dependence does not necessarily imply weakness. What appears protective may also be overwhelming; what appears fragile may possess its own quiet permanence.

The surrounding darkness gives the scene an almost boundless depth, while light gathers close to the point of contact. Rather than illuminating an escape, it concentrates attention on the condition of being held. The tension lies precisely there: between safety and captivity, trust and relinquishment, the desire for autonomy and the possibility of belonging to something larger than the self.

The title shifts infinity from an abstract idea into an intimate experience. The immeasurable is no longer distant. It has become strangely close, capable of carrying weight, memory, perhaps even consciousness. Scale becomes psychological rather than merely physical.

Yet the work refuses to reveal whether this vast presence offers refuge or demands surrender. Perhaps both are contained within the same gesture. To be held by the infinite may finally raise a more difficult question: what part of the self must remain, and what part must be released?
