Heart of the Abyss

Heart of the Abyss gathers its force around an absence. The darkness at its center is not passive emptiness but a concentrated presence, surrounded by an eruption of energy that seems unable either to escape or consume it. Light burns at the threshold of this void, creating a tension between revelation and concealment, attraction and unease.

The work holds destruction and creation in a state of unresolved simultaneity. What appears catastrophic may also suggest formation: matter gathering, consciousness igniting, or some unknown condition passing violently into existence. Yet the central darkness remains untouched by the surrounding intensity. It becomes a silence within the turbulence, an interior space that resists illumination even as everything around it is exposed.

The title gives this absence an unexpected intimacy. A “heart” implies a center from which something lives, while an abyss suggests depth without measurable end. Brought together, they disturb the distinction between vitality and emptiness. Perhaps what appears most vacant is also what generates the greatest force.

The unresolved question lies there, within the darkness itself: are we looking into something that consumes all meaning, or toward the hidden place from which meaning has yet to emerge?
