The First Spark

The First Spark occupies the instant before certainty, when emergence is still inseparable from possibility. Light gathers with sudden intensity from an otherwise indeterminate space, creating the sensation of an event whose scale cannot yet be measured. It could belong to the beginning of something immense or to an almost imperceptible awakening within consciousness.

The surrounding atmosphere seems simultaneously to resist and receive this eruption. Darkness does not disappear before the light; it remains necessary to its presence, giving the moment tension rather than resolution. Energy radiates outward while quieter vertical traces descend through the field, holding expansion against gravity, movement against stillness. What appears explosive is also strangely silent.

The title places extraordinary weight upon a beginning. A first spark contains no knowledge of what will follow, only the irreversible fact that something has occurred. Creation, memory, thought, desire, even existence itself might begin with such a disturbance—a minute rupture between what was absent and what can no longer return to absence.

Yet the work remains suspended at that threshold. Is this the birth of a world, or simply the first moment in which darkness becomes aware of light?
